a penny for your thoughts

words float around and around till there is no more place in my head

On the way, Christian and Hopeful meet a lad named Ignorance, who has the vain hope of entering the Celestial City even though he believes in work’s righteousness*

“O Lord, Thou knowest how busy I must be this day. If I forget Thee, do not forget me.”

I came accross this very, very sweet prayer by Lord jacob Astley, when reading everything I could about Late Renaissance in England (though it turned out to be of no good; in the test I had but one question I knew the answer for sure, the rest was just … Well, you know that teachers tend to get soft time after time and try to make students’ life easier by giving easy tests. Easy for them. I could have written whatever about the Hudibras or Pilgrim’s Progress, I even knew all 3 ways how Oliver Cromwell was executed! Hell, I even learned all the names of MP’s and kings! But, no, she had to ask about theculture in general. Not fair.)

How was your day? (:

* Reference to “‘Pilgrim’s Progress”. I could not help but sympathise with the Ignorance, finding much in common with the character.
